In this episode of the podcast, we sit down with Meditation and Yoga Instructor Annemaree Rowley of Cool Calm and Collected.

After discovering yoga and meditation when she was 16, Annemaree embarked on a path where she eventually realized her passion and purpose was to teach yoga and meditation to others. She was educated at the highly esteemed Sivananda yoga schools in Europe and India before starting her business, Cool Calm and Collected, over 20 years ago in Melbourne, Australia.

Today, Annemaree has a global audience of over 10K followers on the mobile app Insight Timer. The app has 8.1 million users and 20.4K free meditations, the “largest free library on earth”. There are tons of fabulous meditations and instructors but her meditation “Let Go” spoke directly to me and I now consider Annemaree to be my favorite meditation instructor. Her meditations are soothing, instructional, healing, and peaceful.

Originally educated in the 1980’s at the highly esteemed Sivananda yoga schools in Europe and India, Annemaree is both a teacher and perpetual student of yoga. She currently studies Shanti Yoga under the guidance of internationally renowned yoga master, Shanti Gowans. In fact, she never stops studying!

Annemaree often espouses ‘Yoga to me is simply a holistic way of life, a beautiful philosophy and the means to a happy, healthy and peaceful existence’.

She teaches classical Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Mindfulness practises and Meditation. The underlying principle of her work is that a healthy body and a calm mind promise exemplary personal and professional accomplishment in all facets of life and her focus is on relieving anxiety and stress to all those who walk through her doors.

I would say learning how to use the breath effectively; cultivating strength and resilience in the body and mind; fostering peace in the heart; and focusing on compassion – particularly self-compassion.
